Keeping Production Moving Despite Labor Shortages

Automating repetitive palletizing across multiple production lines helped this manufacturer keep pace with changing production while reallocating skilled employees to higher-value responsibilities.

The Challenge

This manufacturer produces nearly 900 different products, each requiring frequent production changeovers throughout the day. As labour shortages and employee turnover increased, keeping operators assigned to repetitive palletizing tasks became increasingly difficult without impacting overall production.

The challenge wasn't simply to automate palletizing. It was to deploy a solution that could quickly adapt to changing products, fit within an existing production environment, and remain simple enough for operators to manage without robot programming.

STACKiT

The Solution

To support this operation, beRobox deployed four PALTZ palletizers (2x PALTZ.C20 and 2x PALTZ.C30) across different production lines.

Using STACKiT, operators can quickly switch between hundreds of palletizing recipes without robot programming, allowing production to keep pace with frequent product changeovers.

The Plug & Play design also enabled the manufacturer to standardize palletizing across the facility, making it easy to replicate the same workflow wherever automation was needed.

Why It Works

Manufacturers with a broad product portfolio need more than flexible automation. They need automation that operators can use with confidence every day.

PALTZ simplifies recipe management, allowing operators to move from one product to the next in just a few taps while maintaining consistent pallet quality throughout production.

Because the system is intuitive and requires no robot programming, manufacturers can deploy automation across multiple production lines without adding operational complexity, helping them overcome labor shortages while keeping skilled employees focused on higher-value responsibilities.

Rather than replacing people, automation allows them to contribute where they create the most value.

Results

This application demonstrates the ability to:

  • Automate palletizing across nearly 900 SKUs.

  • Support frequent product changeovers without robot programming.

  • Reassign 6 employees from repetitive palletizing tasks to higher-value responsibilities.

  • Increase production throughput by 11%.

  • Reduce temporary labor requirements by 61%.

  • Achieve a 1.88-year return on investment (ROI).

SAFETY FIRST, BUILT-IN

Every PALTZ is backed by a strict risk assessment, ensuring it's not just productive but fundamentally safe.
This means you can install your PALTZ system and get to work immediately, bypassing complex on-site evaluations for a truly plug-and-play experience.

Custom developments that fall outside of our standard options may require an on-site risk assessment
